Food Cans
Baosteel's tin mill products are widely used for packages of a wide variety of foods such as deep processed fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, and mixed congee. Steel plates used for food cans range from T-2.5 to DR-9, covering both single reduced and double reduced plates to meet different needs of different users. When selecting appropriate steel for food cans, one needs to consider factors such as properties of container contents, user's application conditions and coating requirements.
Spray Cans
Mainly used for packaging household chemicals, such as air fresheners, personal care products, and pesticides, spray cans are made mostly of tinplates. The steel produced by Baosteel for spray cans is featured by high elongation, excellent deep-drawing performance, good plate shape, and good surface quality and is used by many famous can manufacturers. Baosteel's steel for spray cans is available in a wide range, including both BA and CA plates. CA plates are further divided into SR and DR plates to meet different order needs of different users.
Beverage cans
The most important application of Baosteel's tin mill products is to be used as steel for manufacturing beverage cans. Currently, Baosteel's tin mill products have been used to manufacture packages of tea drinks, protein drinks, energy drinks, juice and coffee drinks. Baoshan's steel for beverage cans is featured by excellent machinability, good hardness stability and good rounding performance, suitable for different a wide variety of users.
DI Cans
DI cans refer to drawn and ironed two-piece cans, which are mainly used for packaging beer and carbonated beverages. As DI cans are highly deformable, the tensile property of tinplates needs to be good. Currently, Baosteel is the only Chinese manufacturer that can produce steel for DI cans. Baosteel's steel for DI cans is featured by good tensile property and easy machinability and is widely used for packaging of products such as Coca-Cola, Qingdao Beer, and Yanjing Beer.
DRD Cans
DRD cans refer to drawn and redrawn cans and have extremely strict requirements on mechanical properties of raw materials, especially anisotropy. For example, if the anisotropy of a tinplate sheet is too big, defects such as obvious earing and insufficient trimming may occur and cause rejected cans. To address the abovementioned issues, Baosteel has conducted specific research to improve its steel for DRD cans to meet different application needs of different users.
Twist-off Caps
Baosteel's steel for twist-off caps is widely used for manufacturing twist-off caps of a wide variety of food cans. Currently, the minimum thickness of Baosteel's steel for twist-off caps is 0.16mm, and Baosteel will continue to conduct further tests to reduce thickness in the future. Baosteel's steel for twist-off caps is featured by stable hardness, good plate shape and low earing rate, able to meet different application requirements of different users.
Easy Open Ends
The EOE manufacturing process can be divided into two stages. First, make the base end. Then, connect the base end and the ring to form the easy open end. The manufacturing process of easy open ends is more complicated than that of ordinary ends and has high requirements on strip steel. Baosteel's steel for easy open cans is featured by good machinability and excellent post-coating adhesion, suitable for a wide variety of complicated machining processes.
Chemical Cans
Another important application of Baosteel tinplates is to make chemical cans. Baosteel tinplates for chemical cans are featured by excellent machinability and good plate shape, widely applicable for packages of chemical products.
Milk Powder Cans
Tinplates used for manufacturing milk power cans are required to have excellent surfaces that are clean and free of smudges. Baosteel has gained rich experience in manufacturing tinplates for milk powder cans, and its products have been supplied in large quantities to downstream users. Its tinplates for milk powder cans are available in a wide range of specifications, able to meet different needs of different users.
Crown Caps
The crown cap gets its name from its shape which is like a crown. Crown caps are mainly used as closures for beer bottles and have high requirements on dimensions, hardness and formability of steel. Some crown caps even have requirements on bending resistance. Currently, Baosteel can supply tinplates for crown caps with or without bending resistance and meet different needs of different users.
Battery Cases
Baosteel's tin mill products, including T-2.5BA and T-3BA, are mainly supplied to corporate users for manufacturing battery cases, such as CPMC, NAMPAK, Fujian Xiangda. Baosteel's tinplates for battery cases are available in a wide range and of good performance, able to meet the needs of different users.
Electric Rice Cooker
Baosteel's tin mill products, including T-4CA, T-3CA and T-2.5CA, are mainly used for manufacturing electric rice cookers. According to the classification of forms, finished products are divided into steel coils and steel plates for electric rice cookers. Steel plates for electric rice cookers require excellent surface quality, which needs to be strictly controlled during production. Currently, Baosteel's steel for electric rice cookers is mainly supplied to COFCO for manufacturing electric rice cooker panels.
Thickness Reduction for Crown Caps
With the increasingly intense competition in the metal closure and end market, cost reduction and efficiency increase have become a must for all cap manufacturers. Traditionally, SR tinplates are used
