Manufacturing Process

Production Process and Equipment Features of ETP Line

Baosteel's ETP line adopts the Flrroston electrotinning process, the major steps of which include:

Uncoiling ¡ú Cutting ¡ú Alkaline cleaning ¡ú Straightening (or before alkaline cleaning) ¡ú Pickling ¡ú Electrotinning ¡ú Reflowing and hardening ¡ú Passivation ¡ú Quality inspection ¡ú Coiling

Process Equipment Features of ETP Line

①The tension straightening machine can effectively improve plate shapes;

②The insoluble anode unit equipped with the edge cover ensures uniform thickness of the tin layer and good control of edge thickening;

③The reflowing process combines resistance and induction reflowing techniques to effectively minimize wood-grain defects on lightweight tin plates;

④Electrostatic oiling ensures a uniform oiling result;

⑤All units are equipped with online tin-layer thickness detectors, and some units are equipped with online defect identification systems;

⑥MSA is used as the electroplating bath for the electrotinning line of Meishan Iron and Steel to minimize tin waste and pollution and improve efficiency;

Major Production Lines

NO 1420

The 1420 unit was put into operation in March, 1998, and its main products are EPTs and cold rolled full hard coils. Its major production lines include a pickling and rolling mill, a continuous annealing and temper mill, a tin plating line, and a finishing line. Its designed capacity of finished products is 760,000 tons/year which includes 440,000 tons of ETP per year and 320,000 tons of cold-rolled sheets per year. The thickness range is 0.17¡«0.80mm while the width range is 700¡«1230mm. Its products are widely applicable in industries such as can making, auto manufacturing, electricity and home appliances.


NO 1220

The 1220 unit was put into operation in December, 1990, and its main products are cold-rolled plates, EPS and TFS. Its major production lines include a pickling line, a five-stand continuous cold rolling mill, an electrolyte cleaning line, a full hydrogen forced convection batch annealing furnace line, a temper mill, a continuous annealing line, a double reduce cold rolling mill, an electrolytic tinning line, a tin free line and a finishing line. Its designed capacity of finished products is 1,000,000 tons/year, which includes 450,000 tons of cold-rolled products per year, 350,000 tons of ETP per year and 200,000 tons of TFS per year. Meishan Iron & Steel

The 1420 unit of Meishan Iron & Steel was put into operation in October, 2009, and its main products are widely applicable in industries such as food, chemical engineering, construction, light industry, home appliances and structures. Its major production lines include a pickling and rolling mill, a continuous annealing line, a continuous hot dip galvanizing line, an electrolytic tinning line, and a finishing line. Its designed capacity of finished products is 850,000 tons/year.
